oggi è la Giornata Mondiale di sensibilizzazione sulle Cardiopatie Congenite e non è un caso che coincida con San Valentino, il giorno in cui si festeggiano gli innamorati.
In molte culture tradizionali, il cuore è considerato la "centralina" dei sentimenti e, quindi, anche dell'amore.
Convivere con una cardiopatia congenita significa anche far fronte alle paure che possono derivare dai significati profondi attribuiti a questo organo.
Il 14 febbraio offre un'opportunità unica per amplificare la consapevolezza su questa condizione e per comprendere meglio i bisogni delle persone con cardiopatie congenite.
Grazie ai progressi della cardiologia e cardiochirurgia pediatrica oggi l’80-85% dei bambini e delle bambine nati con una cardiopatia congenita riesce a sopravvivere fino all’età adulta. Ciò significa che questi bambini e queste bambine possono crescere, diventare adolescenti e adulti.
Sono circa 100.000 i cardiopatici congeniti adulti ACHD (Adult with Congenital Heart Disease) nel nostro Paese.
L'aumento dell'aspettativa di vita solleva importanti questioni sui diritti e sulle necessità di queste persone, che vanno dalla sfera scolastica e lavorativa alla vita affettiva e sociale.
Dal 1997 Piccoli Grandi Cuori è al fianco delle persone con cardiopatie congenite e continuerà ad esserlo.
